Motorhomes depreciate in value fast initially so we absorb this early depreciation for you. Our units are professionally maintained in house and we keep records of all of the services done on the motorhome. The oil is scheduled for every 3,000 miles. We rotate the tires every 15,000 miles and maintain proper tire pressure levels. The oil is changed every year in the generators or every 100 hours.
Most important of all, the motorhomes are started once a month during the off season. On the first Monday of every month from December-May we start the motorhome and let it run for 20 minutes, then we start the generator, let it run for 10 minutes and before turning it off we run the air conditioner and refrigerator for ten minutes. We do this so that the generator gets put under load, and the appliances that have compressors get a chance to run as well. We have found that a piece of equipment lasts longer if it is used periodically and not left sitting for months and months at a time.
When comparing motorhomes to purchase my advice is to purchase as new of a motorhome as you can afford and not be overly concerned about the mileage.
Most people do not put near as many miles on a motorhome as they think they will. Engine and drivetrain issues are rarely a factor when we calculate the maintenance of our motorhomes. My Dad used to tell me, "The day you buy something is the day you need to know how to sell it." Meaning, put yourself out 5-8 years from now and you will have an easier time selling a newer unit.
Lastly, we urge you to come take one of our units for a "test" campout.
This allows you to get a feel for the motorhome and see if it is the right size and floorplan for you. You pay the weekend rental rate for the unit and if you buy a unit within 6 months we simply subtract that rental from the purchase price. It is as fair a deal as we can make because we like surprises even less than you do.
